What's the difference between yaSENSE EXCEL and EXCEL OPC PLUGINS?
Getting data from an OPC server into Excel is nothing new, there are numerous plugins and add-ons that do it, with historical or live streaming data.
This is fine for some simple use cases, but has severe limitations when it comes to continuously processing this data:
Excel needs to keep running. If it crashes, the calculations stop. If you or someone else close it, the calculations stop. Same if you want to work on the spreadsheet.
With Yasense Excel, the calculations of the spreadsheet run independently from Excel itself, which means you can work on the spreadsheet or close Excel and still have the results of your work run in the background. Yasense Excel is made to keep running and automatically restart in case of a computer crash or power outage. It will read and write OPC data reliably.
Like OPC add-ons, Yasense Excel will seamlessly connect to multiple data sources including popular PLC’s, DCS’s and Historians that support OPC.
This means that you can use the calculations of your spreadsheet to process data and use the results for process control, in a production environment.
Finally, we have added the function Delay() to Excel that enables you to refer to past values of a cell. This makes it possible to create dynamic models in Excel. Dynamic models are models who's outputs not only depend on the current inputs but also on previous values of the inputs. Examples are low pass filtering, moving averages and first-order systems.
